The End of the Matter

If you don't agree with this story, I have no respect for you as a baseball fan.

Also, read Michael Lewis' "Moneyball."

Good day.

I do agree, mostly.

The most ridiculous transaction this winter: J.D. Drew to the Red Sox (5 years, $70 million).

Are you kidding? Boston won't give Johnny Damon a contract in 2006 because management questions his longevity. Instead, the Red Sox sign Drew for five years. Yes, J.D. drew - a guy who plays about 1/3 of every season.

Longevity and Drew are antonyms.

That was a good article.

I couldn't believe it when I heard about Gary Mathews Jr. The article pointed out that he's coming off a career year at the plate, and he's also a good outfielder, but if Andruw Jones is making $13.5 million a year, there's no way Mathews is worth $10 million.

Branch Rickey must be turning over in his grave right now.

I do like revenue sharing though.

Seriously...

Just finished Michael Lewis' newest book, "Blind Side" ... a great, great book.

He quotes Paul Simmons (HU's def. line coach) when Simmons was at Memphis Harding Academy.

You need to check it out.
